Portable Production
Man of the Heart has been designed as a portable show with a
minimalist set and few performers. That makes it a very "tourable"
show that can be done at a minimum expense in practically any small
theatre with enough room to project video at a level higher than human
height.

The music and audio requirements are spread evenly between live
musicians and recorded sound in the current version. However, plans
are under way to make this a complete "solo" performance by
recording all the live music on tracks.

The technical requirements then would be:

  • 2 video projectors
  • in-house CD players for the recorded sound
  • a door frame
  • basic lights with some refocusing and regelling

Everything else (props and costumes) needed for the production is
portable and will be brought to the performance site by the production
team. We could also bring the video projectors if necessary.

The production team itself will consist of 5 members, including the main
performer and backstage staff. If live music is preferred, the 2 core
musicians would need to be added to the team.

The Future of Man of the Heart
Man of the Heart is currently being presented to international theatre
festivals and other presenters of intercultural and ethnic performance
all over the world.

Following the New York production there are plans for a European
tour, and travels to West Bengal, India and Bangladesh in 2006-07 to
perform the English-language version of
Man of the Heart and also
create a Bengali-language version. There are confirmed bookings in
theaters in India and Bangladesh with
Tritiyo Sutra Performance
Company (India) and Theatre (Bangladesh), who will be key
collaborators in bringing the project to fruition in South Asia.
