In Memoriam

In February-March 2009, two major figures in the Lalon world passed away: Phokir Bader Shah, the 107 year-old practitioner in Kushtia and, Dr Carol Salomon, the US-based Lalon scholar. While Bader Shah had been ill and confined to his bed for most of the final period of his life, Dr Salomon's death (in an unfortunate road accident in Seattle), was sudden, untimely and unexpected.

Carol Salomon started her research on Lalon Phokir in Kushtia in the seventies and continued working until her untimely death on 13 March, 2009. An Obituary on the great, yet under-recognised scholar, written by Sudipto Chatterjee has been published in this website's companion site on Facebook Pages. It can be viewed by clicking on the photographs or at the following site: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/pages/Man-of-the-Heart/152329733032?v=app_2347471856
